pembroke castle
30 mins from timber hill

Pembroke Castle has a long and fascinating history, for it was around 1093 that Arnulf de Montgomery built the small inner bailey standing at the end of the promontory. During the troubled reign of King Charles I, the castle was attacked in turn by both Royalist and by Roundheads as the sympathies of its occupants altered. In the latter stages of the struggle an attacking force was led by Cromwell himself.

Ramsey Island
boat trips from st davids

Ramsey Island is one of the best places for wildlife in the UK, and is recognised as both a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Natura 2000 site. The small shallow pools in Ramsey's heathland are home to several nationally or internationally important plant species. It is essential to keep the ponds open and the edges poached and this is the job of our Welsh Mountain Ponies.
